Five instruments are issued. One is withdrawn. Each was inspected before issue. Further instruments may be entered as they pass inspection.
| Ref | Instrument | Function | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| PF-01 | Self-Administered Audit Protocol | Completed before opening any app not consciously chosen. Notice the pattern, name it, decide. Kept as a record with a weekly tally. Includes an occasional inventory of every instrument in daily use. | Issued |
| PF-02 | Exit Atlas | Withdrawn. The cost of leaving a service is examined more fully by TechFreedom, a programme on technology dependencies and digital sovereignty. | Withdrawn |
| PF-03 | Factory Settings | The settings common apps and services ship with, beside the settings that leave the subject in charge, with the way to change each. | Issued |
| PF-04 | Speed Bump | A checkpoint the subject places on the home screen in place of an app or site opened without intention. Can run the PF-01 protocol on the way in. | Issued |
| PF-05 | Think First | Requires the subject's own answer to be recorded before an AI's is admitted. The two are then compared. | Issued |
| PF-06 | Field Observations | Observations of the eight patterns in use, filed by the public and examined by personnel before entry. | Issued |
Provenance
Issued alongside CW-PUB-001, Field Notes on Productive Friction, the first entry in the register of Cognitive Wallpaper. That edition is closed. These instruments do not reproduce it. They are intended for use beside it, or without it.
Conditions of use
- This page requires no JavaScript and stores nothing.
- All instruments run in the browser. There are no accounts, analytics, cookies or third-party requests. The one exception: Think First can ask OpenRouter's free model router, only when the subject asks, with the subject's own key.
- All records are held on this device. None are transmitted. The Originator cannot see them.
- Records may be exported or expunged at any time, from the instrument that made them.
- Shared registers (PF-03, PF-06) are held as files in the repository. Personnel may file further entries by merge request. Filing confers no priority.
